Open Airways for Schools
Hard time keeping up in your P.E. class? Missing fun days at school because you have to stay home due to your asthma? Well, now there is a program for kids from 3rd to 5th grades that teaches you about your asthma and ways to control it. Open Airways for Schools is a class that is taught by trained San Diego firefighters or other trained staff, who go to your school once a week for 40 minutes. These volunteer instructors teach you how to control and manage your asthma by playing games, role-playing and having interesting discussion with other kids from your school just like you!
If you want to have Open Airways at your school, talk to your school nurse and have them contact the American Lung Association of San Diego and Imperial Counties.
