The Association announces a major project: the Lung Express. This
"museum on wheels" will bring the idea of healthy lungs to thousands of
elementary and middle-school students in San Diego and Imperial Counties in
the coming school year.
The Lung Express is 40 feet long and powered by clean natural gas.
It will be unveiled this summer and rolling to classrooms in September.
"The Lung Express will be a mobile learning center for lung health.
Its interactive exhibits will be fun and exciting for the kids we want to
reach, aged 7-12," said Janie Davis, president and CEO of the Association.
In its pre-arranged visits to schools, the Lung Express will assist
the teaching of a new science curriculum on lung health that is being
jointly developed by the Association and area science teachers in an
educational partnership with the San Diego County Office of Education.
