Mid-City Chollas Park Air Monitoring

In 2005, extensive monitoring of the air quality at Chollas Park was conducted to learn of potential air contamination near Carver Elementary school . Recommendations from the monitoring include the following:

  1. Limit passenger car and delivery truck idling at Carver Elementary to reduce exposure to students and staff to Carbon Monoxide.
  2. Conduct further research at Carver Elementary to determine if ambient concentrations of Hydrogen Chloride detected are ongoing or transitory and if source may be from vehicles or former landfill.
  3. Conduct further research at Chollas Lake Park near Gloria Mesa Entrance Picnic and Play area to determine if ambient concentrations of 1,2,4-Trichlorobenzene detected are ongoing or transitory and if source may be from vehicles or former landfill.
