INTRODUCTION
The American Lung Association of San Diego and Imperial Counties' (ALA SD/IC) mission is to prevent lung disease and promote lung health through research, education and advocacy. The Association supports both the American Lung Association Nationwide Research Program and the American Lung Association of California Research Program. These programs support researchers to probe the basic and applied sciences of lung health through training fellowships, seed grants and career awards. This support is critical for attracting and retaining talented investigators focused on lung research. Through research in the social and behavioral sciences, and in biomedical fields such as physiology, biochemistry, molecular genetics, immunology and cell biology, fundamental questions about lung disease will be addressed and eventually answered.
LOCAL RESEARCH
